The Stortford Heroes Awards took place at Party in the Park on Saturday 16th July at Sworder’s Field. The packed-out music festival was wowed by spectacular performances from The Brand New Heavies, The Hoosiers, and BBC Introducing, amongst others.
Party in the Park was aimed at celebrating local heroes and raising money for charity. It was the first major event hosted by Stortford Heroes – A new charity set up by ITVET, dedicated to investing in the community and supporting charity partners.
In total five awards were awarded to local heroes as part of the celebrations.
The volunteers involved in the COVID-19 vaccination program for the Bishop’s Stortford Vaccine Centre won the ‘Hero Organisation’ award. These volunteers seamlessly came together to work relentlessly to vaccinate the entire local area with professionalism and care.
The ‘Keyworker Hero’ award went to local hero Jack Lynch. As a paramedic with the London Ambulance Service, he worked a huge amount of overtime during lockdown while having to isolate himself away from his loved ones to help save lives.
Pamela Smyth Bronson won the ‘Community Hero’ award for her tireless support and volunteering, and dedication to the Bishop’s Stortford SOS Facebook group and Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank, always helping people in need with her own time and resources.
Graham and Harry Law both won the ‘Volunteer Hero’ award for using their spare time to drive the Grove Cottage mini bus, enabling club members to go on life-enriching outings.
The ‘Caring Hands’ award went to Holy Trinity Shelter Manager, David Perry, for working tirelessly to support the most vulnerable members of the community. He always approaches this vital role in a way that is warm and caring.
CEO of ITVET Ltd, Richard Fountain, said: “Party in the Park was incredible and truly inspiring. It’s with real pride that ITVET can support and reward people in our community in this way. We’d like to thank all our sponsors and volunteers who helped create a memorable day for our local heroes. We’re really grateful for all their support.”
